HISTORY
|
Vince was born and
raised on a farm in Lexington, Ky. amid the fine horse farms of the
Bluegrass region. He bought his first horse at 16 and started
breeding the following year. He moved to Columbus in 1970 to
start his own business. In 1977 Vince and Anita bought Squires
Glen Farm so the family could enjoy horses. Vince boarded a
young weanling, Betts Full Moon. While watching this horse
grow into a 16 hand two year old he became partners and eventually
bought all of him, as a two year old in 1984. After earning
$168,600.00 and a SI of 105 his career came to an abrupt end as a 4
year old when he broke down on a sloppy track in the All American
Gold Cup in Ruidoso, NM. Although devastated, Vince was
determined to stay in quarter horse racing. Having had the
opportunity to see many fine runners race including world champions
while at Ruidoso, he knew what he needed to do. Two days later
a small but beautiful 15.2 hand black colt, Timeto Get Tuff caught
his eye at the All American select sale. The following year "Tuffy"
made the finals of the All American Futurity and earned over
$108,000.00 and a SI of 104 before retiring. IN the mean time
Vince was busy starting his breeding program. This instant
"racing luck" afforded the addition of both mares and stallions.
In 1990 the operation was moved to its existing 50 acre location, in
Westerville, Ohio. |
